McCandless Project Experiment
Date(s) of experiment: 11/4, 11/5
What was your experiment?
I actually did three experiments, two were unintentional but people's reactions made me want to have it documented on my McCandless project. The two experiments that I did for the McCandless project was: Sitting at a completely different table, and dressing up by wearing a dress, and third doing absolutely nothing with my hair.
How did people react to you? For the sitting at a completely different table during lunch the group I sat with already knew me. Some of the people shot me some questioningly glances, I watched as their mind formed the question but, mouths never did form the words. So we just talked had a good time and, ate a little candy and did a little gossip. For doing absolutely nothing with my hair people complimented me on it and they absolutely fell in love with my hair that way they would just say, " I love your hair Raygene!"I would say thank you, and move on. For simply weary a simple sweater dress, people just went crazy over it, they would say " You look very pretty" or " I love your dress!". I said, thank you because who wouldn't love a compliment once in a while. How did you feel during the experiment? During the sitting at the lunch table experiment I felt a bit out of my element. It was really weird for me even though I already know most of the people that was around me since 6th grade. During the doing nothing with my hair experiment I felt pretty good because, I already knew that my hair was fine and, I didn't need anyone else's approval.During the dressing up experiment it's pretty similar with my hair I already knew I looked good and I didn't need anyone's approval. If people didn't like the way that I looked or didn't want me sitting down at that table at lunch, that's their lost not mine. Were you surprised by their reaction or yours? During the lunch table experiment, I was pretty surprised by some of the people's reactions because, they didn't just come out and say it. They didn't just come out and say, " Hey! Why are you sitting here?" They just pretty much welcomed me with open arms. During the dressing up and, hair experiment I honestly wasn't surprised by anyone's reaction I've been used to people saying that to me since elementary school.
Are you "free" not to conform based on the results? Yes, I am free to not conform based on the results. I can do whatever I please with absolutely no constrictions.
What do you think about all of this? I think this was an interesting activity, and that more people should take risks and, not care what people think about you and what you're doing in your life.
Sounds like you learned some very important lessons! :)
